About Me

Hi, I am a documentary photographer born, raised, and based in Nairobi, Kenya. My work focuses on daily life and social issues within the community, among them; nuances of reductive stereotypes, disenfranchised, and access, especially among young people. Apart from carrying out personal documentary projects, I regularly wire for AFP and contributes to NatgeoYourShot. I have also assisted in the production of assignments for National Geographic, Vogue, NYtimes, Die Zeit, and Leica's LFI Magazine.

Workshop/Portfolio Reviews

I founded the Photography platform; EverydayKibera a group of young aspiring documentary photographers from Kibera. I'm a World Press Photo Foundation Masterclass 2017 member and a member of the African Photojournalism Database ~ this is a group of professional African photographers telling the everyday African stories.

I was part of the 2018 VII Photo Agency Academy grantee to attend its photo masterclasses in Nairobi themed 'Rising Fast'. Rising Fast explores the changing realities of Nairobi, Kenya, one of the world’s fastest-growing urban spaces. Contrary to reductive stereotypes of Africa, Kenya is riding a strong economy, a youth-driven cultural awakening and a dynamic tech scene coined the “Silicon Savannah.” Huge challenges remain, however: widespread poverty, poor infrastructure, human rights abuses, and political tumult. Does the “Africa Rise” narrative hold up, and how are people’s lives being impacted on the ground?

I participated in an International Development program done by International Citizen Service (ICS), and Oxfam International at the Coast of Kenya in Kilifi area.

Portfolio Reviews

In January 2019, I was part of a collection of 8 participants (creatives) which included visual storytellers, engineers, developers, and designers at the workshop 'Hacking the African Imagination' to design and reinvent a discussion by MIT Media Lab and Civic Media.

I was selected to attend Blink Connect Photo Portfolio Review in New York in March 2019, Wired Magazine in San Fransisco, Godfrey Dadich, and Catchlight.
